Eastern Composite Services Honoured with Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award by Energy NL

St. John’s – Eastern Composite Services (ECS) was awarded the Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award at the 2023 Energy NL Industry Achievement Awards Gala, held on September 28 at the Delta Hotel and Conference Centre. This esteemed accolade, presented by Energy NL, acknowledges ECS’ outstanding efforts and achievements in advancing environmental sustainability within the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry.

The Energy NL Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award is bestowed annually to a member company that has made significant strides in reducing the industry’s environmental footprint and aligns with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The award recognizes the development and implementation of innovative products, technologies, processes, programs, or policies that contribute to the betterment of Newfoundland and Labrador’s energy sector.

Eastern Composite Services was acknowledged for its cutting-edge platinum group metals (PGMs) recovery and recycling process, which is proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 99.97% in comparison to mined and refined PGMs. This emphasizes ECS’ unparalleled dedication to reducing its carbon footprint.
Currently, the company is adapting its existing technology to support sustainable energy production as part of the ongoing green energy transition.
